 Jeff Pyle is in his third season as head coach and director of hockey operations for Gwinnett. The Gladiators have won 40 games and advanced to the Kelly Cup Playoffs in each of their first two seasons, including their inaugural season in 2003-04 when they were 42-22-8 and reached the conference finals before losing to Kelly Cup Champion Idaho. Pyle is 219-159-50 in six years as an ECHL head coach, having been head coach and director of hockey operations for Mobile of the ECHL from 1998-2002 when the team voluntarily suspended operations in preparation for its move to Gwinnett. Pyle had a 137-113-34 record in Mobile, advancing to the Kelly Cup Playoffs three times in four seasons, including 2001 when the Mysticks lost in double overtime to Kelly Cup Champion South Carolina in the Southern Conference Semifinals. Before joining Mobile, Pyle was an assistant coach for Grand Rapids of the International Hockey League in 1997-98 following six seasons coaching in Germany. He began his coaching career in 1985-86 when he was a player/assistant coach with Saginaw of the IHL. Pyle played 13 professional seasons in North America and Germany beginning in 1981-82 with Binghamton of the American Hockey League. Pyle played five seasons in the IHL, two with Flint and three with Saginaw, and in his 10-year career he scored 1,313 points (490g-823a) in 795 games. He was named as a league all-star eight times and league Most Valuable Player three times. Pyle was named team MVP nine times and helped his teams win four league titles. Pyle and his wife, Cathy, have a son, Ryan, and a daughter, Lauren.
