Final Game Decides Gladiators Season Saturday, April 04, 2009
It all comes down to this: the final regular season Gladiators game of 2008-2009. 60 minutes of deciding how bad you want to keep playing. If there’s a wire, a ledge, we’re at it. Do the Gladiators want it? For that matter, do the Sea Wolves want it? One team will answer that question tonight. One team will finally nab that fourth and final "x" and begin playoff preparations. The Gladiators are at Charlotte, the Sea Wolves are at Florida. It is officially do or die.
The Gladiators currently hold the lead in the standings and also presently have 30 regular season wins and six OT losses (the statistical equivalent of earning a tie) to the Sea Wolves 28 regular season wins and eight OT losses. In other words, if the Gladiators win – the Sea Wolves are done.
Here are the three ways the Gladiators can clinch:
• The Gladiators win in Charlotte.
• The Gladiators lose in Charlotte in OT and the Sea Wolves lose in OT in Florida.
• The Sea Wolves lose in Florida in regulation (regardless of the Gladiators outcome in Charlotte.)
Here is how the Gladiators can fail to clinch:
• Lose in Charlotte with a Mississippi win against Florida.
