Stingrays Win 3rd Kelly Cup Saturday, June 06, 2009
The ECHL South Division Champion South Carolina Stingrays won their third Kelly Cup Championship on Friday night defeating the Alaska Aces 4-2 in Game 7 at the Sullivan Arena. South Carolina led the entire game and added an empty net goal to put the game away in the third. South Carolina defeated Charlotte, Florida, Cincinnati and Alaska to win the ECHL league championship. South Carolina netminder Jonathan Boutin was named the Kelly Cup Playoffs MVP for his performance in the Finals helping the Stingrays to a 4-games-to-3 series win.
