Glads Fall to Greenville, 4-1
Sunday, December 19, 2010

DULUTH, GA - Dov Grumet-Morris again shut down the Gladiators offense, as Gwinnett fell 4-1 Sunday evening at the Arena at Gwinnett Center to the Greenville Road Warriors.

The Gladiators (12-11-5) have dropped seven of their last eight, and are 0-7-1 in December. For the second time this weekend Gwinnett couldn’t solve 28-year old veteran Warriors (20-6-2) goalie Dov Grumet-Morris.

In Morris’ first start of the season in Gwinnett he gave up six goals, but since then has allowed just three goals in four starts against the Glads. He pitched a 20 save shutout on Friday and stopped 31 of 32 on Sunday.

Jimmy Kilpatrick opened the scoring on the powerplay with the lone tally in the first, beating Billy Sauer with a laser high blocker side to make it 1-0 Warriors at 15:20. The Gladiators out-shot Greenville 13-4 in the first but were turned away by Grumet-Morris.

The Road Warriors struck twice more in the second. Kilpatrick scored his second powerplay goal of the night at 6:12, and rookie Marc-Olivier Vallerand added his 13th short-handed at 14:57 to push Greenville’s lead to three.

Mike Forney tallied the Gladiators lone goal on a redirection of a Tim Miller shot from the point at 15:37 to make it 3-1, but Greenville added one more goal late by Connor Shields at 19:04 for a 4-1 final.

Greenville went 2-for-8 on the powerplay, while the Gladiators were held to 0-for-8 a night after going 0-for-7 against South Carolina.

The Gladiators are next in action Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. EST in Florida against the Everblades.
