Brandt Returns for 12-13

The Gwinnett Gladiators have signed forward Andy Brandt for the 2012-13 season. Brandt returns to Gwinnett as the Gladiators all time games played leader. He has appeared in a team high 285 games over five seasons in Gwinnett.

Brandt began his professional career with the Gladiators in 2006-07 and skated in four games at the conclusion of his senior season at the University of Wisconsin.

"Andy had one of his best seasons statistically last year with the Gladiators," said Head Coach John Wroblewski. "He has room to grow and continute to be a big contributor to the team. Plus, there is no question about his character; you won’t find a better hockey player and person than Brandt and it was a no brainer for us to bring him back. We are excited to have him lead our team in Gwinnett this season."

Last year with Gwinnett, Brandt earned a career high 27 assist and he finished the season with 43 points in 68 games with the Gladiators. He also earned a call-up to Abbotsford of the American Hockey League and notched his first career AHL goal with the Heat. Brandt finished with two points in four games while on recall.

Brandt skated with Gwinnett in four of the past five seasons and earned 158 points (63 goals, 95 points). He also appeared in 64 games with Victoria and notched 28 points (13 goals, 15 assists) in 64 games in 2009-10 with the Salmon Kings.

The Wausau, Wisconsin native also earned four points (one goal, three assists) in 14 career AHL games with Lake Erie, Manitoba and Abbotsford over the past three seasons.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
