Sunday, February 10, 2013

Forward Doug Jones has been assigned to the Gladiators from the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League and defenseman Sacha Guimond returns to Gwinnett from AHL Norfolk.

Jones appeared in two games with San Antonio but did not register a point in his first stint in the AHL in his career.

The Marietta, Georgia native currently leads the Gladiators in goals scored with 17 on the season. Jones ranks first among Gwinnett rookies in scoring with 38 points (17 goals, 21 assists) in 47 games with the Gladiators this year.

In his second stint in the AHL, Guimond appeared in one game with Norfolk, a 4-1 win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, on Friday night and earned a +1 plus/minus rating in the contest. He has earned a -1 rating in three AHL games this season with Norfolk and Worcester.

Guimond leads all defensemen in the ECHL in scoring with 35 points (eight goals, 27 assists) in 42 games this season with Gwinnett and San Francisco. He was acquired by the Gladaitors from the Bulls in a trade along with Justin Bowers in exchange for Cody Carlson, Christian Ouellet and Rylan Galiardi.

Jones and Guimond should be available for the Gladiators for today’s 4:05 p.m. start against the Cincinnati Cyclones at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
